Author Roderick Townley to appear At Johnson County Library

The Johnson County Library will host a program with local author Roderick Townley on Saturday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Leawood Pioneer Library, 4700 Town Center Drive, Leawood, KS. Townley is the author of juvenile fantasy books and young adult time travel mysteries
He will discuss his latest book, The Blue Shoe: A Tale of Thievery, Villainy, Sorcery and Shoes. Booklist describes the book as “a good versus evil plotline with copious amounts of magic and intrigue that will be a hit with a wide range of readers.” The Harry Potter artist, Mary GrandPré, provided the cover and inside pictures. And the first edition is printed in blue ink! Books will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Townley writes from his home in Leawood, Kansas. He has won a number of honors, including the Peregrine Prize for Short Fiction, the Thorpe Menn Award, the Kansas Arts Commission Fellowship in Fiction, the Kansas Governor’s Arts Award, and First Prize in two contests sponsored by the Academy of American Poets. His novel, The Great Good Thing (the first volume in The Sylvie Cycle), was a Top Ten Book Sense Pick and has been optioned for film.
