Chiefs bring back Casey Wiegmann
Veteran lineman returns for second stint
A player from the past returned to the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, as the team announced the signing of free agent center Casey Wiegmann. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Wiegmann first tour of duty with the Chiefs was in 2001. He started 111 straight regular season games, including two playoff contests, before signing with the Denver Broncos in 2008.
Wiegmann, who turns 37 in July, was named to the Pro Bowl in his first season with the Broncos, but was released on Feb. 23, 2009 after two seasons.
Dating back to 2001, Wiegmann has started 143 consecutive games at center and has taken 9,078 consecutive snaps, according to a team news release.
Entering his 15th professional year, Wiegmann has also previously played for the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Chicago Bears.
For his career, he’s appeared in 195 games with 168 starts.
